Creating Certainty In A Time of Uncertainty

With the world upside down, we can all get overwhelmed with the choices, or lack of choices, that we have right now. We go to the store not knowing if they will have what we are looking for. We don’t know if we will have to keep working from home, or if we will even have work to go back to once we can leave our homes. It feels like we have lost control of our every-day existence. It is stressful. It is uncomfortable.

But we have to hold on to things we can control, especially those things that come to the forefront in times of crisis. One of the things you can control is how your assets will be divided and who will take care of your children if you pass away. Another thing you can control is how you are treated at the hospital if you come in not being able to make decisions for yourself.

You can execute a will that specifies who gets what and how much. You can tell the court who is supposed to take care of your kids. You can even create a trust that holds the money for your kids so the guardians don’t spend it on themselves. You can put your house and other assets into a trust so your loved ones don’t have to go to court to get the ability to deal with them when you die. You get to control that. You get to create that certainty. I can create a will and/or a trust to give you the peace of mind that comes from knowing that you control SOMETHING in your life right now.

I have written about Healthcare Directives before, and they are still very important right now. In them you can tell the doctors who is supposed to make decisions for you. You can tell them in advance what you want them to do under certain situations. You can create some certainty by knowing your wishes will be honored. Get control. Get some certainty. Get a Will. Get a Trust. Call me today.
